Back in Painesville, Ohio …

Finally.

After almost a month of being away from Ohio, Im back.

The road trip from the sisters house in Abilene, Texas took some time, mostly due to stopping over for a night in Hope, Arkasas, then stopping for several more days at the brothers house near Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The total time spent on the road over those days came close to something like twenty-three hours.

The Meister Mom is home with us for a very short time, and we even ended up with the brothers and sisters dogs for the trip so right now our house is full:

Lima Oscar Rocky Spanky

It was a long trip, but worth it.

Stupid weather …

Two things that really dont go well together:

JUNE 10th and 64°F

Weve had several days of that temperature range this month, followed by a few brief days of near 90°F weather, and now were back into that cold, wet weather again. The weekend looks to warm up a bit, but really, I cant wait for summer-like conditions to finally get here.

Torpedoes away!

Lima takes a dipThe wiener dogs were panting pretty hard today, which was a mistake on their part because it meant a quick trip to the pool for a little swim. The water was warm enough to be pleasant, but cool enough to make a difference, and the dogs got a bit of exercise swimming in circles like two little black torpedoes cutting through the water as fast as their fat little paws would take them.

Theyre mad at me now, of course, but at least theyre no longer panting now that the first hints of summer have suddenly descended upon northeast Ohio with near-90°F weather making an appearance here and there.

Step up to the plate …

Anyway, nothing can happen until you swing the bat.
Haruko, FLCL

Really, thats some of the best advice ever.

Quite often its far too easy to just stand up at home plate and let life throw pitches at you and not take a swing at it due to fear of action. Its easier, sometimes, to just take the strikes passively, not forcing yourself to take action and risk consequences, good or bad, by taking a swing.

But really, nothing can happen until you take that swing. Youre just standing there, letting lifes opportunities for change, growth and advancement fly right by you like a slow sinker.

Good or bad, youre no better off just standing there, because even if you swing and miss, youve got more chances to connect with that opportunity pitched towards you.

Thats what I need to do.

Step up to the plat and find the courage to take a swing.
