Nostalgia for the 70s Sid &#038; Marty Kroft show <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5wXNQDGXugw\">Electra Woman and Dyna Girl<\/a> prompted me to watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FtkPbA3J510\">2016 remake<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FtkPbA3J510?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It was about as good as you&#8217;d expect a movie starring two YouTube personalities. <\/p>\n<p>The original had 70s saturdary morning live-action kid show sets, costumes and actors, yet combined the goofy fun of 60s Batman and empowered female leads. <\/p>\n<p>The remake &#8230; well &#8230; For some reason writers seem to want to tear down their heroes, both in the 2016 remake as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6WPGVQUA6ms\">2001 unaired pilot<\/a>. Of the two leads, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hannah_Hart\">Hannah Hart<\/a> is far better of an actor.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s another example the theory that the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that they are films that are often about another genre (70s political thriller, heist movie, etc) that just happen to have superheros. This remake is just a &#8220;superhero comedy&#8221;. Like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NGu9jJhevnE\">My Super Ex-Girlfriend<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>If you want to watch one of those, you&#8217;re better off with 1999&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=weL-NjlIQ0E\">Mystery Men<\/a>. Or, of course, Deadpool, which is really a &#8220;screwball romantic comedy&#8221; that just happens to have superhe&#8211; well, Deadpool.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mistakes were made.
