{"id":415,"date":"2005-02-09T16:19:38","date_gmt":"2005-02-09T20:19:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/meisterplanet.com\/journal\/?p=415"},"modified":"2005-02-09T16:29:28","modified_gmt":"2005-02-09T20:29:28","slug":"another-blogger-fired","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meisterplanet.com\/journal\/2005\/02\/09\/another-blogger-fired\/","title":{"rendered":"Another blogger fired"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CNET has a story about Mark Jen, a former employee of Google, who is apparently no <a href=\"http:\/\/news.com.com\/Google+blogger+has+left+the+building\/2100-1038_3-5567863.html?tag=nl\">longer working for the company<\/a> after recent controversial comments he made in his personal blog.<\/p>\n<p>This of course isn&#8217;t the first time someone has found themselves unemployed because of a web journal:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/news.com.com\/I+was+fired+for+blogging\/2010-1030_3-5490836.html?tag=nl\">Ellen Simonetti<\/a> was fired from Delta Air Lines after posting photos of herself and fellow employees in their Delta uniforms.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/msnbc.msn.com\/id\/3341689\/\">Michael Hanscom<\/a> lost his Microsoft contractor position after posting photos of Apple Mac G5 computers arriving for use at the Microsoft.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/news.com.com\/Friendster+fires+developer+for+blog\/2100-1038_3-5331835.html?tag=nl\">Joyce Park<\/a> was a web developer for Friendster up until she posted about the company three times in her &#8220;Troutgirl&#8221; blog.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtoniennearchive.blogspot.com\/\">Jessica Cutler<\/a> was fired by Senator Mike DeWine (R-Ohio) for her blog <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtoniennearchive.blogspot.com\/\">Washingtonienn<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stories like those above serve as a reminder for the growing blogging community to be aware that they aren&#8217;t as anonymous as they might sometimes believe.<\/p>\n<p>The advantage you to get in the ability to put your writing in front of a large number of people comes with the downside of those words being potentially used against you by those who disagree with what you&#8217;re saying and have the ability to act on it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CNET has a story about Mark Jen, a former employee of Google, who is apparently no longer working for the company after recent controversial comments he made in his personal blog.
