Instead, I&#8217;ve purchased a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thumbdrive\">thumbdrive<\/a>, which for those unfamiliar with the technology, is simply a general name for any small, removable drive built using <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Flash_memory\">flash memory<\/a> and that can be plugged into any available <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/USB\">USB<\/a> port.<\/p>\n<p>The particular thumbdrive I purchased is Sandisk&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/redirect?link_code=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;tag=meisterplanet-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;path=tg\/detail\/-\/B0001FV3C8\/qid=1119233035\/sr=8-2\/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl147?v=glance%26s=pc%26n=507846\">1GB Cruzer Mini<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=meisterplanet-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/>.  While most consumers could probably get away with one of the cheaper 128MB, 256MB or even 512MB thumbdrives, I went for a full gigabyte due to the large number of files I tend to move back and forth between machines.<\/p>\n<p>The Cruzer Mini is nice and small, though if I was going to make another, similar, purchase, I would probably look for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/redirect?link_code=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;tag=meisterplanet-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;path=external-search%3Fsearch-type=ss%26keyword=USB%20Drive%26index=blended\">USB drive<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=meisterplanet-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> that had a strong loop in order to attach the thumbdrive to my keychain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While working on a good number of computers every day that require a number of standard security and diagnostic software, I decided that using CD-Rs was entirely too time-consuming and wasteful.
