If you’ve been following the news this week, you’ve no doubt heard that the identity of Deep Throat, the secret informant who provided the Washington Post with information about the Watergate Scandal in the 1970s that resulted in Richard Nixon’s resignation from the presidency.

The side-effect of this news story, however, is the unintentional comedy of headlines involving the “Deep Throat” pseudonym, which was based on the name of a very successful 1972 pornographic movie of the time.

Like the ABC News story above, one has to wonder if news writers really are that oblivious to the connections made by the more puerile members of the public, or are they equally giddy over the ability to publicly resort to a bit of subtle, though immature, humor like the rest of us.

Star Wars Nerds vs Darwin

The UK’s Mirror has a brief mention of an incident involving two Star Wars fans who obviously had far more enthusiasm for making a fan-film than brains.

The couple, aged 17 and 20, decided to recreate the CGI-created lightsabers from the films by filling two fluorescent light tubes with gasoline and taking a match to them.

According to the report, the two are currently in critical condition in a UK hospital.

Tinfoil Hat … House

The tinfoil hat is a long-standing comedy icon of the conspiracy minded, but one family in California has taken it to new heights by wrapping their house in aluminum.

According to the home owners, their house is under radio wave radiation attack by unknown neighbors, an explanation city officials obviously don’t buy. The family has been ordered to remove their home’s protective layer.
