Is it spring yet?

What a difference a day can make …

Yesterday it was in the low fifties up here and now it’s back into the low thirties and the white stuff has made a comeback.

At least I got the chance to take the Fiero out and wash off all the dirt and salt that had been accumilating over the last month or so. I even had a chance to annoy the teenager who was in the carwash bay next to me, scrubbing down his little riced-out pickup truck while the latest urban street thug music rumbled out through his expensive subwoofer, vibrating the entire vehicle with every thudding note. In response, I simply rolled down all my windows and played Duran Duran hits over and over. It’s amazing how annoying “Wild Boys” on a twenty-year old stock Fiero sound system can be to the youths of today.

Evil Overlord Tip of the Day . . .

If you find your beautiful consort, who happens to have access to your fortress, has been associating with the hero, have her executed immediately.

It’s regrettable, but new consorts are easier to get than new fortresses and maybe the next one will pay attention at the orientation meeting.

Paranoia XP

Looks like the old pencil and paper role-playing game Paranoia is in the process of being updated for the new millenium.

According to co-creator Costikyan: “Paranoia XP is not an attempt to bring back an old RPG for the nostalgic. Its basic themes — totalitarianism, fear of technology, mistrust, and loathing–are, if anything, more relevant than they were in 1984. Spammers. Identify thieves. Blackhat hackers. The RIAA. Weapons of mass destruction. Totally dysfunctional government. Just as it did lo these many years ago, so shall the new Paranoia encapsulate and make funny the terrors we live with every day… or remind us to be afraid of things that we currently think are merely funny.”
