In a world as connected as ours, Valentine’s Day offers some interesting new challenges, as well as opportunities, for those who make heavy use of technology. A recent Twitter post from @GeekSquadUK asks, “Can a Facebook message be as romantic as a bunch of flowers?”
As a Geek, I think so. Of course, that Facebook message will need to uniquely and creatively gets your feelings across to your loved ones.
While thinking about this, I remembered a DVD I had created for my parents with video I took during our family vacation in Hawaii a few years ago. My Mom got to see some interesting sides of my Dad during that trip, especially when he had a chance to express his feelings for her in front of a crowd. It was quite a site, and made for some memories the family won’t forget.
In light of Valentine’s Day, I went and converted the 20 minute DVD to something I could upload so that the family could easily access that video of our Hawaii memories, even though we are all spread across the country this year. When the Internet is involved, miles mean nothing.
