Technical Difficulties

If you’ve come through this website before, you’ve probably noticed a large amount of content missing. That’s because the hard drive on the original webserver went bad and needed to be replaced.

Test Pattern

I’ve moved MeisterPlanet to the webhost service Dreamhost.com until I can get access to the backups at MJZ Hosting and restore access to the site on their servers.

In the meantime, I have most of the text from my posts already uploaded from a personal backup I’ve made, but it will probably be a few more days until all the image files that make up much of my site will return.

Captain Melissa Meister has been chosen for the Air Force’s Public Health Officer of the Year award for her work as 7th MDG chief, Public Health Element at Dyess Air Force Base.

Of her work, 7th MDG Aero-Medical Services Flight Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan said:

“She knows her job very well and is an outstanding leader. Anything that you ask of her gets done quickly and accurately, and she’s a fantastic person to have work for you.

We’re very lucky to haver her here at Dyess and in the military. She’s got a lot of knowledge and experience. She’s done very well deployment-wise, and is going again in April. We’re very proud of her.”

Congratulations to my baby sister for a clearly outstanding job being done in Texas this year.

Geek Squad and Wireless Networks

C|Net has a brief article available online that talks about the troubles average consumers face when trying to setup their own wireless networks.

The article talks about the large return rates on most consumer networking equipment, as well as how some people are turning to computer support organizations such as the Geek Squad.

As an on-site Agent for Geek Squad, I often come across people similar to those in the article, who’ve tried to setup the hardware themselves, but quickly get bogged down in confusing instructions filled with terms like ‘Network Address Translation’ or ‘MAC Address’.

I’ve found that the ability to speak in plain english about exactly what it is you’re doing and how the client can best use the technology is equally as important as the ability to setup the client’s equipment quickly and correctly.
